This was a lucky shot, taken as egrets were flying in as the sun was setting so they could roost for the night. In my 16 years of going to the Oaxaca coast of Mexico, I’ve never gone on a bird watching tour at Ventanilla, about a 15 minute drive from where we stay in San Agustinillo. This was my lucky year – invited by other retired regulars who stay at Posada la Barca. All I can say is WOW! So much diversity, such a quiet setting, and a knowledgeable, English-speaking guide. I’ve never seen wild parrots before so that was pretty cool!
