I took this photo of a grove of North Carolina pines on the approach to the the outdoor wedding site of a niece. It was a September day in 2010. The summer heat was buffered by the trees, who stood clustered together like a stick pins in a cushion. Like mist in the air, the rich crisp scent emanated around us s we moved within the grove. Ah, I can feel the smell with ease, having lived many years in Georgia, where these tender trees also like to call home.
